Traveller’s question
Holidays and events in Kyrgyzstan, month by month
Holidays in Kyrgyzstan fall into three groups: fixed dates (Nooruz on 21 March, Independence Day on 31 August), lunar ones (Orozo-Ait and Kurman-Ait move by 10–11 days each year) and the seasons of nature and nomadic life (blossom, walnuts, jailoos), which depend on the weather. The World Nomad Games were held from 31 August to 6 September 2026; the next ones are announced for 2028 in Kazan. Organisers announce the date of most festivals only a couple of weeks ahead, so leave some slack in your tickets and bookings.
