Getting to the base
Access is by 4WD through Barskoon Gorge. From Barskoon village to the plateau takes about 2 h; agree the lake and drop-off point with the driver. A full day by car from Karakol covers about 330 km and 7–9 h of driving in total. Guide prices as of 11 October 2026: €290 per vehicle for up to 3 passengers or €390 for up to 5, including a driver-guide and water; lunch and insurance cost extra.
