Getting to the base

The approach to the foot of the peak goes from Karakol through Karakol Gorge, the mountaineering camp and On-Tor Valley. In the selected programme, a transfer first takes you from the hotel to meet the horses, then the first horseback stage takes 6–7 hours and up to 20 km; this is an approach to the foot, rather than a summit ascent. For independent access to the gorge, take marshrutka No. 101 or a taxi. A 4WD transfer to the second bridge is a separate option: about 1.5 hours, with a July 2026 guide price of 2,500 som per person with four passengers; a mountain approach to the foot still lies ahead. Agree the drop-off point, horseback stage and return vehicle in advance.
