Getting to the base
From Naryn, book a 4WD with a driver in advance to the Kok-Kyya yurt camps: allow about 150 km and 5 hours via At-Bashy and Ak-Muz. The lake is then about 2 hours on foot one way. Driving right up to the lake is prohibited; visitors must have permission and be accompanied as part of an organised tour. Obtain a border-zone permit before leaving, and agree the camp, transfer price and crossing conditions for your date.
