The main season is June–September. In May and October, access via Chon-Ashuu Pass and other mountain stretches depends on snow and weather; check conditions for your date.

From Karakol to Echkilitash is about 150 km and 5–6 h in an off-road truck along the mountain road. Agree a drop-off in the valley with the driver; the reference marker does not indicate a camp or car park. Arrange a border-zone permit and entry conditions for your nationality and date in advance. The guide price for a separate transfer as of 11 October 2026 is €125 for a 4-seat 4WD; confirm the return, waiting time and what the price includes.
